The rock spoke between the lines
Paul Barclay

The rock spoke between the lines

The tree held the river's attention

The stones poked up bald heads along the paths

As the earth crumbled into itself

And the wind demonstrated its presence

And the river went on

And the clouds formed and deformed

And then disappeared entirely

The trail went away

As no one walked down it
