requiem
Gavin Yates

the brass creek has a mouthpiece

i dial randomly afraid of direct

contact as hail hammers the roof the eucalypts

everybody sidles a window

we know little of this the stilted dialogue

in the bathroom a train’s din down the port’s lip

venus is first to arrive

in the orca night then it perishes

in a cardigan i used to be a guitar

in a kitchen of brittle plates

edging for the tiles
