Gary Paul Nabhan is a nature writer and agrarian poet who lives and farms in Santa Cruz County. He published his first poem about saguaros in Saguaro National Park in 1972, and later wrote of them in his Tangram Press chapbook of poems, Creatures of Habitat. He is the author or editor of 28 books, which have been honored with a Lannan Literary Fellowship, Western States Book Award, Southwest Book Award and John Burroughs Medal for Nature Writing.
